tappets problem

   My saxo engine has starting to make tapping noise been told that Is could be the tappets.
   
   If that Is the case why have they started to tap and what can I do to stop them tapping

   I'm pretty sure all the 16v tu engine have hydraulic lifters. So the odds of them tapping from incorrect clearance is minimal.

   some are adjustable if it is the tappets, should take no more than a hour to adjust, but saxos are known for being tappety

   i've had my tappets adjusted .. and they were alright and quiet for like a day !!! but then again i do have a 98 vtr ha .. she's getting on abit, so i wasnt bothered after just got used to them ha cause they're around 20-30 quid to adjust

   Only black top 8v engines have solid lifters and can be adjusted.
   VTS one's cannot

   Slight correction, silver top can be adjusted as well, just need slightly different tools
