Hi my starter motor has just gone on my phase 2 saxo vts 2002. I was just wondering how much they are, where it is located and if they are easy to fit.

get to a scrap yard some other citreon starter motors will probably fit. vtr ones might be the same. should be about 20 30 quid

Scrap yard is your best bet for a replacement - probably cost you £30 or so.

Not a hard job really - remove the airbox and you'll be able to gain access to it. Make sure you disconnect the battery before disturbing it though.

Im gonna have a go at it tomorrow thanks for the advice.

yeah, remove the airbox, its underneath at the back.

3 bolts hold it onto the gear box, then there are 2 (?) earths to remove on the left hand side. bit of a fiddle but you should be able to do it yourself.

just remember to doublecheck everything is tight when you put the replacement on.

They are straight forward to do just take your time. Any starter off a saxo will fit, i bought my 16v engine for my furio and used the 1.4 starter and it starts fine. There maybe a difference but they all look the same 1.1, 1.4, vtr and vts.

vtr ones definately fit as i believe do 1.4 not sure about others
