Hi my starter motor has just gone on my phase 2 saxo vts 2002. I was just wondering how much they are, where it is located and if they are easy to fit.

#2Is it definatly the starter motor? Have you checked its not a duff battery?
-
#3how could i tell
-
#5or use a multi meter, that would soon say
-
#6checked the battery and is fine
-
#7get to a scrap yard some other citreon starter motors will probably fit. vtr ones might be the same. should be about 20 30 quid
-
#8Scrap yard is your best bet for a replacement - probably cost you £30 or so.
Not a hard job really - remove the airbox and you'll be able to gain access to it. Make sure you disconnect the battery before disturbing it though. -
#9Im gonna have a go at it tomorrow thanks for the advice.
-
#10yeah, remove the airbox, its underneath at the back.
3 bolts hold it onto the gear box, then there are 2 (?) earths to remove on the left hand side. bit of a fiddle but you should be able to do it yourself.
just remember to doublecheck everything is tight when you put the replacement on. -
#11They are straight forward to do just take your time. Any starter off a saxo will fit, i bought my 16v engine for my furio and used the 1.4 starter and it starts fine. There maybe a difference but they all look the same 1.1, 1.4, vtr and vts.

#12vtr ones definately fit as i believe do 1.4 not sure about others

#13ive got it done now did it this afternoon it wasnt that hard it was just really fiddily. when i was under the car i found the gearbox mount has gone does any one know what thats like to replace.
