blue smoke from my saxo :(

hey guys

got my saxo forte 1.1 couple days ago and i love it lol

iv noticed when it gets warm nd i rev it blue smoke comes out the exhaust

iv changed the spark plugs and its still doing it. iv been told to try some lucas oil as its good stuff but if tht fails then what could be the cause?

it had been sat around for a while and before i got it the car had some work 2 it and had the oil filter changed and new oil and the rocker cover gasket.

it also had a cam belt change and 12 months M.O.T on it

i really want to get it sorted because its my first car and im gonna be using it soon learn in it

any advice on what it could be let me no asap

could be possible head gaskit have a look to c if water comes out of the exhaust when you rev it

Sounds like head gasket to me =/ Could be in rare occasions valve stems, piston rings, ect

First thing to check is for a gunk in the oil filler

Blue smoke could be piston rings. If it's smoking when you lift off the throttle, it's most likely valve stem oil seals.

Sometimes an indication of too much oil in the system? Check the levels on the dipstick.

oil is a bit over the max level on the dipstick mite be the problem and maybe put lucas oil in

Is it a shitload of blue smoke? If it is then it will be piston rings away.

yeah as said, Check the oil cap aswell for mayo on, If so, could be a possibillity of the head gasket on the way out.

as said above:

1) check for Mayo on oil cap
2) check oil swirls in the water

1+2 , 1 , 2 all = Head gasket faliure, could be oil leaking into the combustion chamber

3) Oil Levels, Drain excess oil.
4) Valve stem oil seals, smoking when lift of throttle, (head off job)
5) and finally Piston rings, engine rebuild time, better to drop a VTR lump in there.

Tbh if its got blue smoke then i wouldn't faf about with it i'd just drop a VTR lump in there straight away, much easier and less hassle.

As your only in Cornwall, i could offer to help out fitting a vtr engine, if you can source a VTR engine, Box, shafts, ecu, immob, make sure you get the right ecu Single plug or triple plug,

gonna get someone to look at it properly nd if its stuffed may put a furio engine in it

still smokes like hell tho when warm but from start up from cold bit of smoke but nothing like when its warm

blue smoke isnt good man.

i had that on my old Zetec, its a cunt. Engine replacement jobby. usually works out cheaper than finding out what the problem is and then fixing it.

depending what car it is, might be worth just selling on, as i did.

but i did end up selling mine for more than i bought it for, so happy days!

bought for £350 sold for £600!

i know aswel as u do, when you buy a car, its always a shitter to find out there is something seriously wrong with it.

so getting rid and breaking even is always the better option. then u can wipe the slate clean b4 u spend any more cash on it.

but next time, give it a good revving, even if the guy looks at you like your a prick.

i sold my mango westie a few years back, and the guy who came for it, started revving the engine to fuck, then took it for a spin, and nailed it, hitting the limiter on a cold engine. when he got back i told him he better be buying it or pay me for the damages. but he was happy and took it away.

if you rev the arse off it you will know if its smoking. if it is, walk off, no matter how nice or cheap.

well i gave jus over a grand 4 it 76600 miles 1.1 nd its clean but the thing is b4 it had its work done 2 it it didnt smoke or it did but i didnt relize it cus i didnt go 4 a ride wiv dad in it so i think its done it ever since its had work done 2 it.

and i can rev it to 2k nd smokes so dnt have 2 rev it at all for it to smoke

YER THATS WHAT MINE WAS LIKE. I DIDNT EVEN NOTICE MY SMOKE FOR 2 WEEKS.

any ways, a friend told me it was smoking, and after that i just got rid.

if you bought it for that, soem1 else will do.

just list it on pistonheads... its free, so nothing to lose. and if you haent got a license yet, theres no rush.

if you make a small loss, its not too bad. least your not gonna spend £1500+ on a 1.1 with engine swaps and inc car

hmmm i get some blue smoke when i start up only from cold though last 3-4secs then doesnt do it after that you can smell if more than see it though what you think it cold be? oil rings? dont get any smell after that and i dont loose any oil
