my 95 wrx has a misfire and a back fire trough the intake, i have mods including fmic,k+n, 3in staight trough turbo back exhaust and a remapped ecu with 17 psi boost, i have tried to replace plugs and turbo, the plugs are very sooty (over fueling??) i tried the afm (unplugged it) and it stalls but when started again with afm unplugged the misfire goes and revs as it should..... when plugged back in the problem is back i got no error codes too and tried a reset..... spent hours under the bonnet all weekend .....HELP THIS IS SENDIN ME NUTS

I think you have diagnosed the fault already as being the AFR. However you might get a better response from a Scooby forum, those guys will have more of a knowledge base than here about the Subaru. Good Luck with it

hi mate , i use to have pulsar gtir and i had exactly the same mods, fmic, induction, uprated boost, exhaust etc etc... i also did what you did and unplugged the afm which made it run just as it should, it turned out to be that the air flow metre was getting to much resistance causing all the troubles you are getting. i got my mate to run a new earth in and earth it directly to the chassis with a very well cleaned surface.. after this it ran better than ever
