MOT Emissions

  1. #1
Hi guys. Just wondering if anyone knows if my car will pass the emissions test if i put a lambda sensor on. I have a straight thru supersprint exhaust and raceland manifold. The tester said all i would need is a lambda sensor and it should pass but i said ide probably need a standard exhaust and he told me not to.

My emissions were 2.22 over the max 0.30

you are going to need a sensor. have fun

mine has a sensor and still failed on emissions i had to get a new exhaust system just for MOT. id just borrow a standard system or find someone who will do you a dodgy MOT lol

so you have no lambda sensor plugged in at all ?

No mate. Have just bought one. The cars going in for a bit of welding tomorow so they said they will have a look at it.

    Standard exhaust job then?

a lambda or cat. I have a blanking plug where it should be

plug a lambda in, unplug the battery for around 3hours or so, and then start here back up and retest it.

I presume you have a cat though ?

no cat mate its a straight thru exhaust and a raceland manifold. I dont know if the guy noticed this.

ill get the lambda tomorow and try it

get a cat whilst your at it too, and get that fitted

u WILL need a cat to pass an mot! lol its illegal to not have a cat lol i wouldnt even bother getting out of bed on the day of the mot if you dont have a cat or lambda sensor and i was talking about the lambda sensor in my last post

also why dont you have a lambda sensor in the manifold? all you have to do is take it out the old oem manifold and screw it in to your new one,

last lambda sensor was fucked so im getting a new one tomorow and my garage is going to go and put it through an mot with just a lambda the legends

emision machines are set ule probs find there just mugging u for a lamda sensor and do the test on another car

your car would not run right without a lambda sensor in anyway, you probably find when you fit a new lambda sensor your car will run much better and also be better on fuel

my car doesnt have a lambda sensor (well it has one but its not plugged in to the loom) and it seams to run fine

the ecu will not be putting the right fuel/air mixture in, the lambda sensor just senses if the fuel is to lean or rich and the ecu adjusters it so it runs how it should, you will find it will run alot smoother when u fit a lambda sensor

ye i will fit one soon, it is a little lumpy on idle sometimes at traffic lights and i need to give it a little rev and it settles its self out, and my mpg seams about the same as other vts owners so would be awesome if it did save me some fuel
