Important! : Help! Oil on manifold :/

  1. #1
    Hey all,

When i was doing my oil change today some dripped down onto my manifold and then when i took it for a quick run there was smoke coming from the manifold area (im assuming where the oil is burning on it)... sooo two questions really:
    a) will this catch fire?
    b) is there any way i can clean it off? (what to use etc)

    any help/advice wud be great

    a) very unlikely as I've spilled oil there before & nothing happened apart from smoke
b)suppose just a rag to get the majority of it off, then the heat off the manifold will burn the rest off
anything else you'd attempt to put on there,ll just cause you the same problem getting it off mate-it wont take long to dissipate

just let it run a while, while its parked at your house,so people wont think "that guys' car is on fire!-wonder if he knows?". When I had the 1.1 I did the same thing & the smell drove me mad.But it dissapeared over a couple of days

ank try propping up the bonnet while you do it,so the smoke doesnt go into the car through vents etc.turn your air/heating off
