Best ecu emulator software???

I would like to remap my car and do it myself.
I also require live info so i can fine tune fuel/air ect.
Would be gratefull of any input except no chance lol
    it can be done!

Don't know how they do it these days but it used to be dismantle ECU. Replace ROM with EPROM mount. Dig through the code of the original ECU altering as applicable. Plug EPROM back in ECU. Then stick it on the rollers to see how its effected it. The repeat until you get what your after. Don't know the guys do it today. I know there are a few people that turn up and will map it at your house so there must be some sort of live feed they get. There is a diagnostic port so can only guess its from that some how. I don't really understand how they they could map it unless they still take the ECU apart though as for what I understand its a ROM chip in there.

pretty sure there is only a few places who can map the saxo ecu's live.
Best person to speak to is wayne at chipwizards.

    In breif:
Only other way i know of doing it, is to take the ecu case apart and take the eprom chip and put it in a read/writer and alter the parameters, burn it back to the ROM then put the EPROM back into the ECU, but that isnt exactly live mapping it!

As said, can be done live but the cost of the required hardware would be more than buying a standalone ecu

Yes i here you guys thanks for the responses.
I just thought by now the software would be readily available.
i may just start saving for a live mapping session to get the best from the engine.
If i ever get her started again lol waiting for code reader but think its the coil pack or crank sensor/no spark.

for the price of standalone ecu you might aswell get one, for the price it is going to cost you to chip the ecu then get it mapped

There is some emulator software in the Haynes Guide to Mapping (by Dave Walker) - which I think should be suitable.

I thought ecu's of this time and beyond were PROM? As they learn driving styles and parameter changes (to a degree)

Standard ecu's and some of the glorified aftermarket jobbies have continous closed loop so they can adjust the map overtime for engine health or shorter term with fuel octane rating

nice one adsayer will have a look.......

closed loop refers to the lambda sensor trimming the fuel it doesnt save anyting just tries to get the engine to run at an afr of 14.7.

Some ecus do tweak the map over the time but the early saxo ones didnt, not 100% on the later (3 plug) ones but i dont think they did either
