I am thinking of painting my steelies instead of alloys and would like to know what sort of finish hammerite smooth brings out because I am thinking of spraying the rim edge gold and the centre gloss black. So has anyone used hammerite smooth and what is the finish it brings out is it gloss or matt or what

#2Hammerite smooth gives a strange sort of finish, if you rub a rag over it it goes quite glossy but if it gets a bit of oil and dirt on top of it it looks matt, suppose to keep it glossy it needs lacquering, or just lots of cleaning

Don't use the spray can Hammerite though, its thin and shite, the stuff out of a tin is the best, and you get a similiar finish as it self levels so you don't get brush marks

#3buy some alloys you tight bastard, got mine for 60 quid
steelies look shit and cheap IMO -
#4Depends on what steelies they are if they look shit or not.
I think the Rallye steelies look quality -
#5I know what you mean but when I having even got 2 coins to rub together £60 is alot of money my plan is to do my car up on a budget and you cant get cheaper than making my own back box and not spending money on alloys the ony thing is I dont want to buy second hand products but think im goin to have to

#6they are similar to rallye steelies but not as nice. the same but not as wide and the cut out bits on rallye steelies are like square-ish but mine are like a oval wont look good but better than wheel trims with the paint scrubbed off because someone got to close with the jetwash and dark grey steelies with a hint of rust.

#7rallye steelies hmmm they do look nice anyone no dimensions of them

#9Hammerite is ok, gives quite a matt finish really. You could just go for a normal gloss black metal paint.
