starter motor wont stop even with key out

   I went to start my car today and it started but the starter motor would'nt stop even after I took the key out of the ignition. The only way to make it stop was to disconnect the battery. Does anyone know what this could be or where the fuse is to stop the starter motor, so I can jump start it. I Its a brand new starter motor fitted last week.

   has it worked fine since fitting it or is this first time trying it? as i wired one in wrong once and it always stayed engaged but that was only when the engine was running

   it was working for about a week before this happened. how would i check the ignition barrel?

   theres no fuse, either ignition barrel is jammed or starter solenoid is junk, not unheard of even on new ones
