No Alarm... for some reason

  1. #1

Right, i do realise that there is a pic of my car, and my profile says Manchester, so prob not the best idea advertising that i have no alarm.. but here goes!

since i bought the car, 2 months ago, the alarm does not work... i lock the car with the fob (which doesnt always work, the receiver only has 2 pins, instead of 4) and it locks, but the alarm doesnt arm. i was under the impression that VTRs came wit alarms?

so last night i decided, whilst drunk, to find out why!

i had a rummage about and found a massive bundle of cables taped together, i dont know much, but i know thats bad!

these are the cables i found, if you can identify why or what the cables are, that would be great, if any of them are for my alarm and just simply plug in somewhere, i would appreciate it if you let me know.

dont think that was all of them... but cant quiet remember...

any help at all would be great as i am stumped!

i didn't think vtr's came with alarms as standard, ive had 2 and they didn't have alarms ive had to fit them if you want them lol

hahaha, well there you go then...

it turns out, i am a dumbass!

i always thought they came with alarms, thats what i read.

but this doesnt solve the cables problem! where the hell did they come from? scary!

rofl hope u didnt pull them out of anything

some look like alarm wires. could prev owner had one and taken it with him or her

By the looks, the cable on the left, one with a molex plug looks like its suitable for the dash dials.

Picture #2 looks like airbag to me

hahaha, please dont say its an air bag... ffs.

just out of interest, why would the dash dials be unplugged if everything is working?

what would you say is the best way to et to the bottom of the problem? Citroen or an auto electrician?

and i didnt pull them out of anything, i just found them, taped up to the underside of the dash... weird!

i thought it was some1 else's alarm cabling... hope so. will make putting one on easier!

    Hi Mate

What you have there is an old part of the loom for factory alarm that has been removed and an aftermarket system fitted and wired into the factory loom
But as it is disconnected there may have been a problem with that one as well

Looking at the plug it could be Gemini or Cobra

But you have air gap ( no alarm ) just the remains

Didn't the vtr alarm come as an optional extra because mine and my friends vtr both have alarms.

well there you go. an answer i have been waiting for, coz all the saxo vtr reviews i have read all say with alarm, but some people on here seem to think they dont come with them.

    must be an optional extra.

    thanks

I have an alarm and sensors but no button for the sensors. they don't work and I think this might be why as I found a connection attached to one of those fake plastic buttons?

it looks like i have had the alarm and i got the sensors in the pillars but, i dont have any kind of button of any description!

its all good, its not a hijack, its collectively getting to the same point.
