Help with indentifying connectors on a VTR Single Plug loom

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me identify these two connectors, they are on a loom from a 1.6 8V VTR lump that has been spliced into my 1.0 loom by FrenchSport Tuning, and I'll be buggered if I know where they go, or what they do, but maybe someone can give me a clue.

First one is this 3 pin connector near the front of the engine bay, you can see where it comes out the loom by the top of the gearbox, but I can't see anywhere to plug it.

2nd one is this 2 pin brown connector, the connector itself has seen better days but that's by the by lol. I've clipped it to the top of the rocker cover so I don't forget about it, no idea where it goes, I can't see anywhere near the ECU tray it should plug in?

that 1st one is your problem, its the crash switch/inertia switch whatver you wanan call it.

Bridge the two wires with a bit of wire and it should start. Second one looks like it went to the charcoal canister which isnt used. Would need to buzz out the wires to find out 100% where it goes though.

At the moment I'm commuting to work in a 4.6 Range Rover and it's killing me

It's a 3 pin connector, I'm not with the car now, is it easy to see which pins have wires going to them or not?

Is there a longer term solution to this, or am I bridging the connection and taping the plug up?

You can either get the inertia switch off most pug/cits in the scrapper. Get one off here or just cut the wires and bridge them. Its a 3 pin connector but only 2 wires goto the plug, middle pin isnt used (i think i need to get out more?).

I'll be reporting back later. I've been beating my head off the slam panel for 2 nights trying to get the bloody thing to fire up.

Just to clarify, the fuel injectors are firing, it's just not sparking, is that right for the inertia switch, or would it stop the fuel as well? I have a hybrid 106 / VTR loom from FrenchSport tuning.

Cant remember how it works on the mp7.2 ecu but i know its supposed to stop the engine running so its feesable. Does seem odd that youve got fuel and no spark as that would flood the engine. Is it just the fuel pump priming or have you had the injectors out the head spraying fuel? If the injectors are firing it rules out the crank sensor being faulty.

I see. I've had the injectors out of the head firing, I did a test with a sheet of paper to make sure all 4 are firing, which they are.

I have absolutely no spark though. I have a one piece large coil pack, that has a 4 pin connector and a small rectanglar box which I've bolted to an earth. No spark at all.

If the injectors firing means the crank sensor is working that's awesome, one thing to tick off the list.

I'd though ECU, but I'm assured it's unlocked, and I've been given another one to try off the lad I got the engine from and it's doing the same on both.

I'll try bridging those pins tonight, if that doesn't work I guess I need to get a hold of another coil pack in case it's faulty really, can't be much else can it?

Yep, have you got a live going to the coilpack when the fuel pumps priming? There should be a live when priming and cranking, then if you put a bulb across that live to one of the feed pins it should flash when cranking.. if it does then its 100% the coilpack.

I "think" I know what you mean.

I am about as much use with electrics as stevie wonder was at bird watching however, so...

The only connections I have to my coilpack are the 4 pin plug and the small rectangular box which comes off that connector, which I have bolted to an earth.

Are you saying that if I pull the 4 pin connector and hold a bulb over one of the live pins, it should flash the bulb when I'm cranking the car?

i havent got the pinout to hand but one goes to that box and its a noise suppressor that isnt really required for running.

One is a switched live and the other 2 are negative switched. If you put a bulb or 12v led across 12v to either feed youll see it flash as the engine cranks.

That was indeed the problem, tested it by bridging pins 1 and 3, fired up straight away

Sadly the timing appears to have been out, win some lose some lol, out it comes again.
