im thinking of doing this myself, i see no reason why not to, the only reservation i have is whether the vinyl has to be heated to fit the curve of the roof? or can it be done without heat?
for people with vinyl roofs :)

#2well when i went to my local craftshop the woman said that they do vynals on vans and commercial vehicles and that you just have to completely soak the sticky side so it looses it stick, then place it wherever its gone so there aint no bubbles then get a hairdyrer and dry it so it retains stickness and that should keep the bubbles out
-
#3doesn't need heating to form around the roof, the roof doesn't have any tight corners to go around
-
#4so is it worth trying it myself? have done sunstrips and im pretty good at stuff like this
-
#5just take your time i did my racing strip check the progres thread
-
#6ye easy to do yourself, get a mate to help then it will be piece of piss
-
#7You need to spray the roof with water which contains ONE OR TWO drops of washing up liquid, then squeegie out all the water and get the bubbles out. Then you WILL need a heat gun otherwise it'll crease up where the roof starts to slope off.
I did my 306...

^^ no way i could of done that without a heat gun.

And again, you WILL need a heat gun.
-
#8you don't need a heat gun for the roof, i've done quite a few in work without the need of a heat gun
-
#9any other opinions on whether a heatgun is needed? if it is could a hairdryer be used?
-
#10it doesn't need using, like i said i've done more than my fair share in work
-
#11Okay cheers, so start at the back of the car and work forwards? Cheers for the help
-
#12yeah its easier to start at back and fold it down into gap between boot and back of roof and when you get the front lift the rubber around top of screen and use a credit card/bank card to push the vinyl under the rubber
-
#13cheers bud, did you jsut cut around the sunroof once its all in place?
-
#14remove the sunroof for best results
-
#15yeahh thats what i was thinking
-
#16i got mine done and all needed was to wet it 1st then push out excess water and hairdryer at the end and a card or somthing to push bubbles out
-
#17a body filler card wrapped in a rag is best
-
#18cheers for the help guys, will be looking into buying some sheet vinyl in soon
