need to cut out the slats and then plastic weld up the bits of the bumper where the slats were cut away from, then tiny bit of filler, paint and then mesh the back

Cheers could i fiberglass it as it would be easier than plastic welding?

ye but its not ideal, can crack very easily

So how do you plastic weld?
  7. #7
easiest way is with a soldering iron, need to cut sections of platic to fit the holes/gaps and like melt/fuse the bits edges to the bumper

i have a gas solder iron with blow torch tip will that work, and can any old plastic do just bigger than the gap?

sand down plastic over then weld/melt and filler over sanded

gas solder iron will just melt it and not do much else, you need to like melt it and mix the to edges together to get the weld/join

not any plastic will do, some plastics don't weld, just use the bits you've cut from the bumper

once all done and cool, sand down the welded bits, and surrounding areas, bit of filler, sand down filler and prime/paint

How would i go about filling up the fogs so that the bumper could be flush as if there were no fogs in the first place?

need to cut plastic filler pieces that can be plastic welded into place where the fog holes are then thin skim of filler

Cheers mate makes sense, so line plastic up level with bumper plastic weld with solder iron and filler it. If you solder iton it wont you ruin the tip as the plastic will melt onto it?

    Cheers

thats why i bought a few cheap soldering irons for just doing plastic welding with

cool looked at a couple of video on youtube on what they do and sorry im dump in the sense that i make sure what im doing or say is right so bare with me, sand down the cut bits from the gril i cut out. The to patch the holes get some plastic big enough to cover the hole from the scap ive just removes. Line up and around the edges use a soldering iron to melt/fuse together. Sand down and prime?

and same for fogs. I use to work for Maplin so i can get them for dirt cheap the irons lol

need to use filler after you have sanded the welds down

need to do alot of melting and it helps to have some more plastic to melt into the joins to make them stronger
