Battery running down very quickly!

   I'm having a few problems with my battery. When I park car up, get out of it straight away, lock it up, then come back to it later, it starts no problem. But say I sit in the car for a couple of minutes after I've turned the engine off, with the CD player on, when I go to start the car again its just dead and I have to get the jump leads out! Any ideas? New battery time or could it be something else?

   alternator and batery good place to start.
   
   if you have a big system and only have the car ticking over this can drain the batery very quick, used to happen to my mate until he fit a power cap and a new alternator.

   run down to a halfords and they can check the alternator and battery free

   I dont have any sort of aftermarket sound system apart from the CD player. its only when the engine isnt running and I have the cd player on, or interior light, that it would drain it. strange. anyway, il take a scoot down to hellfrauds after work here and see if they'll check it, im guessing they will do the free alternator & battery check here in Northern Ireland too?
