I would have to say its coming from the passengers side , baring in mind ive just had all the discs and pads changed, but surely it cant be them wearing in, its unbelievably loud but stops when i come to a halt!...whats going on?! anyone got any suggestions so i can have a ganders myself??? CHEERS guys appreciate it!

    Wheel Bearing.

    Expensive?

Does it happen only under acceleration or deceleration, or is it a constant humming noise, if it's constant then jack your car up and try and see if there is any play in the wheel, if it moves then your wheel bearing is shot, if it dont then it could be a number of things like a driveshaft etc.

Lol misinterpritation of your first post,

    its the Driveshaft intermediate bearing

    Either £20 bearing + Fitting

or easier £80 for a new Drivers Driveshaft about £80+ fitting

Jordysport is spot on, same happened to mine last month, may as well get both driveshafts done at the same time if you have the cash mate

no worries mate, hope you get sorted

I have a very similar issue on my saxoon the drivers side, although mine makes the noise under acceleration more so at motorway speed, no accelerating and lower speeds the noise isn't so bad.

It's a very hard noise to describe like a rotational hum/squeak.

I was told it could be the driveshaft bearing or wheel bearing. But i've had both driveshafts replaced, new o/s wishbone (not related to this prob) and a new link rod (again not related to this prob)

Only thing i can think of is a possible wheel bearing.

Total agree tho Joni123 the noise is really starting to grate now!

actually one last Q??? how much would these drive shafts cost normally? As where my dad used to go , he'd do it cheap for him and me at the time...but now he's dead, hes takin me for a right ride..charging stupid prices....! just a rough figure please guys?

Haha, yeah amount of people i've told now is up to about 20 or so. reason i first knew is i had the same prob ended up just changing the driverside driveshaft. and if you jack it up high enough no oil comes out of the gearbox neat trick i thought as you don't have to mess about with filling oil. was doing it in 2ft of snow aswell LOL.

did you look at the vid, its a very easy to recognise noise if it is.

EDIT: Joni will check on autodata for the exact number of hours it should take.

Auto Data says 1hr 30 mins, so thats about £75 in labour + £90 for the part from Eurocarparts

    £165 in total

Jack up each wheel at a time, and rock the wheel at the ten to six, 12:30 see for movement.

I just watched that video and its not that nose...:/ HMMPPPFFFF.but that sounds relatively cheap , from the price range youve given me...as they said around 150 to 200 ..i thought fuck off ..you can include my MOT in that too mate... LOL
  17. #17
had the pretty much exact same thing and i payed 160 to get it fitted including the part so its not too costly but well worth getting done!
  18. #18
mate my driveshaft fitted cost me 80 & 35=£115
