MAP sensor quickie

Seems like my MAP sensor does nothing when i unplug it. its the same as when its plugged in - is the sensor buggered?

They only take readings at certain times, so unlikely it will make any difference when unplugged whilst sat idling.

at certain times? think it could be causing my flatspot because at low down revs the engine only bogs down after about 15-25 mins of driving?

When the car is started, at high engine speeds, at varying engine speeds.etc. etc. It doesn't constantly read the pressure.

If the engine doesn't change when it's unplugged I'd say it's buggered

How does the engine run when it's plugged in?

Or the ecu could of seen the fault and reverted to a known value of that sensor not all ecus put the fault light on best get it pluged in and that will tell u for sure

when you unplug it the engine should hunt around a lot in my experience

It was only on idle when the map sensor was unplugged and it made absoloutely no difference at standstill. Not too sure if this is the cause of my flatspot?

I'd look to test the wiring and maybe borrow a MAP sensor that you know is 100% working to see if anything changes with how the car feels
