how to get 150-160 bhp from a vts engine?

   as above, il be building it over time so by the time its built up insurance will be cheap enough.
   i know i will need good breathing mods, descent cams and a 4-2-1 but any more advice would be great.
   depeding on money may go for a little more power, preferably without ITB`s as they are a little out of my price range at present.

   should be able to hit around the 150mark with some ph3's, a good map, timing, and induction/exhaust system + healthy engine

   thats what i thought to be honest, thanks for the reply anyway. was thinking saxsport decat system,ph3`s, bmc cda and the engine will be healthy as it will all be stripped down to check for anything that could cause a problem, then once its all built up and fitted in the car a good remap, possibly a piggy back ecu too

   is it a single plug ecu?
   
   I wouldn't bother with a piggyback for now - decide on where you want to go with it? If you'll want to go Itb's in the future, then I'd go for standalone, like omex or dta.
   
   if not then can get the standard ecu remapped by chipwizards - where are you located ?

   I'd go for a K&N filter, supersprint manifold, newmans PH3, and our race exhaust.
   
   When you are trying to chase every bhp, you are going to need to look at the manufacture quality of the products you buy. The supersprint and our exhaust system are both hand finished to smooth the exhaust gasflow past the flanges so maximising the gains.

   All of the above should see 150bhp if you take it a bit further get headwork done

   I'd have to say, that'd be my perfect fast road setup, end it with a chipwizards map and just enjoy !
   
   If you want to go further then go for a standalone ecu, other than that the Kam-racing exhaust and supersprint manifold should be perfect. Induction side just try and go as smooth as possible. Maybe replace the oem angle from TB to airbox with a silicon one, panel filter, remove all the ducting etc. from the front of the car, and enjoy

   thanks alot for the advice guys, wasnt going to do a conversion but got offered a 106 gti/vts engine and box for £85 haha believe it or not its all in working order and there has been no major set backs as of yet, when i come to getting work done and buying the new parts il bear all of this above info in mind.
