  1. #1
hey i have a saxo vtr silver and would love to no how low to drop it i have alot of speed bumps were i live so it would have to clear them.

    thanks gary
  2. #2
40-50mm most people say 40-50mm is also the ideal hight for optimum handling too
  3. #3
50mm should be alright as long as you take your time going over them
  4. #4
thanks just got my vtr new to this what would you say this is droped by

  5. #5
this pic might help alot better i bought the car and the fella didnt no how much it was drope, it dosent look that low to me
  6. #6
35mm all round, maybe 40mm? mines 50mm but im on 16's so looks different even tho its a silver mk1 vtr with carbon bonnety.lol
  7. #7
mine was about that lowered 45
  8. #8
ok thats brilliant so no point goin any lower then

    thanks alot lads
  9. #9
i would lower the back a bit more.
  10. #10
how much more mate, it dose sit abit high i think the fronts ok but.

i no this might be a stupid question but if i get a sound system will that weigh it down anymore lol
  11. #11
If your going to put a system in the boot i wouldnt lower it anymore as it will sit lower anyway.
  12. #12
yea i thought that wasent sure if it would of like 2or 3 subs and amp would lower it i good bit more so it would

thanks ill keep it the way it is as i went into a petrol station tonight and as i was goin out off it theres a wee hill my front bumper hit it and i had to reverse and go the other way lol
  13. #13
imo it looks like you've got 60mm springs on the front
  14. #14
You look lower at the front, and looks ever so slightly lower than mine did.

Id guess at 60mm front, like jeffchiz said, and 50-55mm at the rear.

I had this same problem when I got my VTS, didnt know how low it was.
  15. #15
My friend is supposed to be down 40 and it catches everywhere.

Also I would like to know where this "theorey" that 40mm is the best handling. Can somebody explain?
  16. #16
    i getting mine done 50m
  17. #17
Mines 35 front and the splitter is mangled from speedbumps that i forget about and i hit a fox yesterday
  18. #18
looks weird with the back being that high compared to the front. looks about 30mm rear 50-60 front imo. when mine was 40mm at the back it looked alot lower than that.

atm mine is down 60 front 70 rear and even with a couple of burly lads in the back it looks about 100mm on the rear and it never really catches on bumps if you go at a snails pace. Theres just the certain few bumps in my area which are notorious for being overly big which i only tend to catch on.

basically if you go slow over normal/average sized bumps i'd say you can lower the car upto about 90mm to be safe.

40 on the front, 50 on the back

heard that far too many times and always makes me smile, having previously being lowered on 40mm springs it handled worse than standard i'd say (spax)

My car has been lowered 40
    No problem on speed bumps...

i know matt it just makes me laugh how it has come to this conclusion.

ignore all other concerning factors, 40mm, f1 levels of grip haha.

mines down 35mm on the front with a lower brace. catches some massive bumps but otherwise unhindered. handles like its glued to the tarmac, even if the backs higher
  25. #25
you are only lowerd on the front?
  26. #26
    50mm!!
  27. #27
get your self another vtr wheel and stop trying to pull off that trim

Measure all the bumps you'll be driving over and then lower your car accordingly Seriously.

50 ml is your best bet
  37. #37

yeah agree, go over reeaalllyy slow and you might get away with upto 100mm on the deck

    saxovtsmad - about 40mm i'd say

  42. #42
    what? lol
  43. #43
when u say nicks.. do u mean notches? because that is not the right way to lower the rear torsion bar anyway... wouldnt be suprized if thats were your knocking was.
  44. #44
i'm dropped -60mm on 14's, and i can go over any speedbump with 4 people in and not catch anything.
