VTS conversion-what do i need?

I'm looking to convert to a VTS engine in my 53 plate mk2 VTR.Can someone tell me what i need.Here's what I've been told so far:engine,loom,ecu(unplugged),radiator and hoses. Is there anythig else I've not added? And most importantly-I've been told that the ECU must be open.How is this done exactly?Dont want to buy an engine in few weeks to go 100 miles to get it fitted,etc,then find out its no good because the ECU isn't open. Please guys,some help appreciated here.And also,is there a way that I can tell if the ECU has been left open?(electronically?)Cheers

you can buy unlocked ecu off ebay around £70 also make sure you get a vts engine out of a mk2 with the 3 plug ecu or your in for a long conversion if you end up with a single plug engine and ecu, never done it before but a no a lad thats done it.
