Noobiest question ever

Yeah I can understand that this thread may come across as being a Noob's thread but I need some questions, hopefully some of you on here will be able to help me and not skin me alive.

I got some stuff that I want to paint, such as the ECU cover and vents and centre console etc. Apparently its not as easy as just spraying it over?
Can someone do a small guide to painting just to keep me happy?

    Thanks in advance
    Mike

1 - key the surfaces by sanding it down

2 - prime it with some primer spray paint

3 - sand it down again if you have bubbles or if the paint is running

4 - then spray paint what ever colour you want

also always leave 10-15 mins between each coat and apply the paint in small thin layers and not one large one,
also always sand down if you have bubbles etc to get a nice smooth finish.

remove the parts, sand down with aroudn 240 grit paper, then work up through different grades to about 800 grit, clean off

use some plastic primer, 2-3 coats will be fine and then once dry wet sand with around 1000-1200 grit wet and dry paper

once smooth clean off, 2-3 coats of paint and if they are going metallic then 2-3 coats of lacquer
