i was thinking bearings? its a very high pitched squeak happens as soon as i press the clutch in, even lightly, is this definitely to do with the clutch?

I would say its your clutch release bearing. Mine sounds similar. I don't know how much a new clutch kit (inc. release bearing) is for the Saxo and the labour, etc... but on my car (Clio 172), I'd be looking at approx. £500.

thanks mate, ive not been driving it just in case i mess it up anymore, but ill be getting it into the garage as soon as i get paid.

is it a pretty much guarantee it'll be the clutch release bearing? anything i can check from under the car?

mines exactly the same, i drive mine pretty much daily even with the squeaking and from what ive read and seen its the release bearing (seems a pretty standard response). You can usually get the clutch kit reasonably cheap but labour on it is pricey, im looking at about £150 fitted having got the clutch cheap through motor trade discounts etc. But yeah release bearing is my guess.

    good luck man!

hopefully it wont be too pricey

Finally got it into the garage this morning and he suspects it will be the clutch release bearings and said its best off to get a whole new clutch, £300 in total.

does this seem like a reasonable price? do i need to 'run' the clutch in when i get it?

£300 in total including parts and labour seems expensive considering a quality oem clutch kit is about £90 and labour at £45 per hour...and no, you dont need to run the clutch in

thanks, well its already in the garage so its too late now, to be honest im not too bothered about the price as long as i get my car back soon.

tempted to sell up once i get it fixed and get something jap, any recommendations?
