About Lowering

    Right... the time has come for me to get off my ass and slam my car...
    I just need to know what is the compulsory equiptment?
    Do i only need the front springs? or do i NEED anything else?

    Depends how low you want to go?
    If you want to 'slam' it then you will most likely want spring and dampers, or even coilovers to go really low.
    And you will also need the rear of the car lowered to suit.

    ah right, nice one mate, By using the expression "slam" i only mean i want to go 45mm I was told the back of the car was just a 'bar' that your raise/lower...? dont know what to buy all together, and how much i'm looking at getting it done... my mate in work said he can do it though but hes got a corsa so probably different

    The torsion bar at the rear needs to be done properly.
    Dont know all the ins and outs about doing them but there are 2 methods I think. One called notching which is the one you want to avoid (someone correct me if im wrong)

    45mm will be fine to just get the rear done to match, with front springs and dampers.
    Check out Kamracing, link should be on the top of the forum pages. They have some good set ups.

    Im sure someone on here can lower the rear for you. Should be looking about the £100 for the rear, although might be able to get front done for that too.

    If you are reasonably spanner competent then the front is pretty simple to do. Although that might just be because Ive done the fronts lots

    The word "Slam" is only really used when the car is really really low. You would just say lowering 45mm.

    Front springs at the very least.. Fitting those will lower the front and then the torsion bar needs to be lowered at the back and I recommend getting someone who knows their stuff to do it.
    Many people say you can get away without dampers at around 40mm but I would say if your going to do it, do it properly and buy a kit which has them in it. Either the spex or spax if your on a budget.

    torsion bars pretty straight forward providing its being done by someone who knows how to do it, generally 40mm you get away with just the springs anymore id personally throw dampers in aswell but like 80-100 quid will do good!

    £100 to be done all round the correct way if you supply front springs, quite a few people,(ourselves included but we're not exactly local to Swansea lol), offer lowering at around this rate. Make sure you get a fixed quote though as sometimes the rear torsion bars can be siezed in, don't want the guy telling you that it took 4 hours to get the bars out and he wants more, reputable people just charge a fixed price for the job

    get yourself some apex or spax lowering springs for the front and lower the torsion bar at the back but AVOID notching

    hey there iv jst had my spax 50mm springs come 2day jst wondering if i can keep the standard shocks coz im jst abit concerned the the body will bounce about abit

    torsion bars are easy, do a bit of research then go for it
