Few problems advice needed

   Hi, just bought a 51 plate Saxo VTR today . Its been lowered 40mm all round apprently and has 15 inch Motosport Alloys on it. Just wanna list a few problems i have found and see if anyone has got any good advice for me.
   
   When going over bumps or any kind of dip in the road i hear a knocking from the rear end?
   
   When coming from say 70 to a stop i hear a whining sound but cant tell whether its from the front of back wheels?
   
   Lights on my dash seem to be very dark?
   
   I see a hole in my back box and how much are the standard back box's and how hard or easy are they to fit?
   
   All the help will be very much appreciated as i just want the car to be perfect and dont wanna be working on it for the next 6 months lol

   Silly question but have you tried adjusting the dimmer for the lights on the dash?
   
   Backbox is a ten minute job and standard boxes can be picked up on here or ebay for the price of a few pints.

   Whining sound could be a wheel bearing thats going mate.

   Silly me but wheres the dimmer for the dash lights? loool and is the wheel bearings a big job on the saxo's? because i just done a set of front bearings on a mk 4 golf gti and it was a nightmare job.

   under your steering wheel towards the right hand side (mine is anyway!)

   how to adjust the dimmer it by rev counted you got there a like a button u can press, keep pressing and change to loads dif dims, best to do at night and also if you clock if wrong hold it in and when the first number eg 2:45 starts to flash press button to right time leave it then it will on the other side then do same then leave it and you got right time, al mine was always 5 hrs a head lol

   1) are you sure the knocking is coming from the rear end? could be the exhaust knocking on the beam, knackered damper, or worn beam bushes. can't really say without having a look at it and having a poke about.
   2) Does the whining only happen when slowing down, ie when you come off the throttle?
   3) as above could be the dimmer switch for the dash lights,
   4) backbox's are very cheap, i would get an aftermarket one while your at it. 5 min change, 2x 13mm bolts on the clamp, then switch.

    veryy easy to fit a new back box on just 2 bolts then change them round, mine has a knockin noise but mine is the exhaust hitting knocking the beam ass jordysport said above

    simple to fit new exhaust, just need the right ratchets normally 10mm and couple of bolts later ... wala!

    The knocking i think is more a rattle than a knocking as if the exhaust heat shield is loose or something. is that common on the saxo?

    Also noticed when i poped the bonnet theres a slight ticking noise coming from the left side of the throttle housing inside a black box? any1 have any ideas what would be causing that?
