and the supersprint and kamracing exhaust system

noticable power gains? If so what hp extra we talking?

how well can you feel it when you put your right foot down?

    Really noticable?

    Thanks

Best manifold for the Sax imo, compliments the supersprint middle section and backbox well. Revs alot more freely. Bloody expensive new though so look out for one second hand

Yeah tis a bit expensive.. £330+ for the mani

how do people rate the raceland mani, or piper mani? bit more of a budget option i know at £150 and £180

Raceland 4-2-1 is ok on mine, but i'm guessin you want to know bout a vtr not 1.1

The benefit of the supersprint manifold is it is hand finished after welding. This removes and smooths the internal bore at the head flange and exhaust end to get the best in gas flow. Cheaper versions such as the Raceland do not get this care and so will lack a small amount at the top end when flow is more critical.
The other advantage is the metal is a lot thicker and the quality of manufacture is greater so it will most likely out live your car

im geting a supersprint mani next, as my raceland that has been on the car less than 2 years has got cracks all over it and seems to have gone brittle and chunks have fallen out where it has cracked

depends on the age, some of the older Mk2's during the crossover period have mixed systems.

but newer mk2's have the cat in the mani

I want to know about the 1.1 I have been looking on kamracing and have seen the superspirnt race exhaust kit i was thinking of getting along with an induction kit... would i need to uprate the mani? i know it would be preferable... but just wondering about cost... someone mentioned a Raceland 4-2-1... any ideas??

Sorry i am very new to this

you wouldnt have to uprate the mani, a lot of people have aftermarket exhausts and standard manifolds, and a raceland 4-2-1 is £148 iirc, kamracing put a link to the manifolds in there last post

Could someone explain what the 4-2-1 means and what the difference between 4-2-1 and 4-1 is??

    Its simply the 2 versions the manifold 'physically'come in;

4-2-1; where the manifold bolts onto the head there are 4 pipes which when you follow the manifold down just towards the point in which it bends under the sump you will notice it merges into 2 pipes (bottom end area) and then if you follow it to where it goes to bolt onto the centre pipe it merges into 1 pipe.

And the 4-1 is basically the same manifold but instead of merging into 2 pipes, just merges into 1 from 4 near the bottom of the manifold

So think of it as a physical description.

4-1 manifold iirc provide more top end 'flow' than the 4-2-1 but not as much low end torque gains as the 4-2-1
