Wiring Neons to Interior Light

  1. #1
    Hey guys,

I currently have some footwell neons in my car and want to take them a step further by having them activated when the doors are opened/closed. I would also like the lights to be able to be controlled manually from the interior light so that if I switch that on manually, so do the footwells.

Does anyone know how I could go about doing this? Do I need to wire them right up to the interior light or can I just splice into a cable somewhere easier and lower down?

    Thanks

i used to have some in my mondeo and wired them up so that they were on a seperate switch and could turn them on and off when ever i wanted

Hmm that's pretty much how I've got them at the moment. Any ideas how I can hook up to the door sensors/interior bulb??

wire them into the door switch. that way it will work when u open the door

i also have been wanting to do this, problem with wiring to the pin switch they will only come on when opening that door.....me thing you will have to tap into the wiring actually at the interior light

    Indeed you do.

Tap into the wires in the interior light, but I still don't think you will get the control of the light (As in on, on when open, off). I wired neons into my boot on the boot switch, and that works when open, but I believe its different due to the switch.

Yeh I understand how to do it in the boot as I will hopefully do this soon, however its just in the front which is a bit of a pain. I'll probably just keep them as they are and run them from a separate switch.

you see i imagine the boot pin switch has 2 wires going to it, when boot is open, it completes the wiring circuit to enable light to work, vice versa closing boot breaks the circuit....

in the interior light not to sure, dont quote me on it, I aint check!!! lol but i imagine it will have at least 3 wires

one would be a 12v feed from the n/s and o/s pin switches another would be a 12v feed for when you manually operate the interior light switch and the other would possibly be the earth

shouldnt be to hard to find out with a multimeter

ive got mine running like this all you need to do is put the black wire in with the interior bulb and the red wire with the middle wire on the adapter going into the interior light so the lighs turn on when you open the door and when you swith the interior light on
