Engine management light question

    Just a quick one about the engine management light I have had a search but didnt find anything that answered my question,

    When the engine management light comes on, does it put the ECU into some sort of default mode to protect the engine?

    Mine came on today as the only thing I have noticed is wierdly the throttle response is a little better, and it vibrates gentle on idle and I can kinda feel it when driving.

    Might go into a safe mode that protects engine, but im not sure, i had this on a car i had before one of the sensors packed up.
    ECU went into safe mode couldnt do more than 40mph tho lol...
    Not sure tbh await further answers

    when my engine management light came on, it was a fuel injector, luckly enough it wasent clipped in, simple fix lol

    doing loads of short journeys makes your eml come on , did with me , go for a drive for a bit see if it clears it

    engine managment light comes on could mean anything, get it diagnosed, sounds like it been put in safe mode, basically safe mode as far as a i know makes only 2 pistons work.

    take it somehwere to get it plugged in they should be able to tell you the fault in about 10 mins

    mine come on after a long journey, gone off again now, i wasnt worrying about it, its been well looked after, no strange noises or loss of power

    no such thing as safe mode in a saxo as I am led to believe, could be a whole list of things best bet get a diognostic done, my light on at the momment but de catting it did not help as sensor 2 reading high emmisions(sorry ozone) but just hook up my diognostic machine and delete and resets itself no harm done.

    The main prob is lambda probes playing up, usually carbon deposits from short journeys, give it a good drive and see what happens but should be ok.

    not when it comes to crashes lol. but yes there is, the ecu puts the engine into it, cant remeber the reason behind it.

    Ive got the same problem, and same things goin on, as in the vibrations on idle...

    bit of a hijack, sorry

    And mostly do 10 mile round trips, work ectra....

    recon its worth gettin it plugged?..

    Limp mode?

    Mates of mine went into limp mode and wouldnt go past 5.5k revs or something.

    Mine eml came on after fitting a pro comp induction kit...

    Strange lol

    I dont think saxos have a limp mode feature iirc

    I think its your Lamda sensor all coked up take it for a good trash (let it warm up first) and see if it goes out that my advice anyway.

    Ok got an update, I got it checked out and it turned out the be a lambda probe fault, and 4 other "unrecognised faults/codes" according to my mates Snap on obd2 reader,
    I changed the lambda and got my mate to turn off the light, it does seem better but I still have a slight vibration on idle, it's probably nothing serious but I'm wondering maybe I have another sensor playing up some where that the reader failed to pick up or whatever, I'm a bit if a perfectionist when it comes to the running of my car can you tell lol, it gets serviced every six months so it's not like it gets treated badly! Lol
