Weird burning smell coming from car,and now car wont start.

   Burning smell was comming from around the alternator area and now car wont start,isnt even ticking over,this is why i think it is the alternator cause when the belt snapped before this is what happened when i tried to start it.
   
   Any ideas?

   You checked all the basics like fuses or anything disconnected. New alternator should solve it

   nah not yet tho the alternator bring burnt out will defindly be where the burning smell was coming from.

   It could have shorted something else out stoping the car from starting.

   suppose,gonna try it on the jump leads soon.

   battery will be flat doubt jumping prob wont work. get a voltage meter check output, charge it if nessasary, new alternator belt. check all fuses.

   Apparantly its most likely a siezed alternator =[
