basically i really want a supersprint back box, but becasue ive smoothed my exhaust recess my only option was to get a custom back box made, but if i got superprint box and cut most of the tail pipe off would this affect anything? also as my bumper has been plastic welded would the exhaust gasses melt/have a reaction with my bumper at all? ie would i need to go back to plan A and buy a custom box with a downward facing tail pipe?
what would happen if i cut the tail pipe off a back box?

#2Cut the centre section down but keep the olive end bit and have that reattached then you can fit any saxo back box, just need to get the exhaust hangers moved back...
Bit of a faf but would sound awesome whilst keeping the smooth bumper

#3Just a thought, would a 106 one not be better, iirc they hang lower?

#4lol that is a faf but a good idea, ill keep it in mindQuote:Cut the centre section down but keep the olive end bit and have that reattached then you can fit any saxo back box, just need to get the exhaust hangers moved back...

#5yea but i want the back box hidden though, i was thinking about fitting a pug sport as that should fit and look alright but seams a waste of money smoothing the exhaust recess over if im still gonna show an exhaust lol

#6get some pipe the same diameter as the tail pipe, get it bent in a U shape, starting very severely at one end, then get it welded in place off the old one so it comes back on itself along or uder the backbox itself, shouldnt be too much work tbh
-
#7yea could do, good idea also, if i just get a custom one made up, would the exhaust still sound raspy would you have thought with my s/s pipe? or does the back box itself determine the sound of a exhaust note? the easy thing to do is just get a custom one made but i really want the s/s raspyness and dont wanna loose it with some custom back box made in some random shed

#8Tail pipe has to be pretruding thr vehicle, so the zorst gasses can flow away from the car, rather than under and into it...
No tail pipe doing this will result in a fail mot, and a traffic cop wouldnt nice too nice either tbh... -
#9chop it off and put a bent piece in its place.

#11lots of modern cars in particular new micras iirc? have hidden backboxes in which the tail pipe comes back on itself under the car
-
#14get a supersprint and cut the tip off and get a pointy down 1 welded on
-
#16smoothed bumper???
I like the idea!! -
#18i keep asking ben about this, i dont wanna get rid of my exhuast
-
#20make it come out the side

#21I think idea about cutting the ss tailpipe off and getting a bent pipe welded on going to the side or going down but try putting heatshield meterial on the bumper so there's less chance of melting
