engine noise

   when my engine is running there is like a whining sound. i can also here it when im driving along in low revs. but when i put my clutch in, it goes. what is it?

   thrust bearing by the sound of it fella.... or gearbox release bearing as most people call it i think

   just guessing but i reckon it the gear box does it just do it when you in gear driving or does it do it when youre idle out of gear?

   it does it both. when tickin over, dip clutch n it goes. when drivin, dip clutch it goes.

   sounds like input bearing has gone, i reckon new gearbox and its worth replacing clutch too! 340 for recon box
