Piper Manifold Question :)

  1. #1
    'Ello friends,

Just another little question I have to see if anyone else finds this, I have a Piper 4-1 Manifold on my MK2 1.1, now this is a MK1 Manifold I think because it came off a Mk1 Engine. Now I never noticed it before but I'm about to lower my car and I've noticed the Manifold is very very low and it seems to have been hitting stuff like Speed bumps lol and my car isn't lowered yet! And all Engine mounts are good because I thought my Engine might have been sitting too low due to a broken mount but all seems good... Is this normal for them or is it just something wrong with mine? Lol

You sure it is the manifold. I never hit mine on anything and mine is lowered 40-50mm

Well when I put it on it was perfect, I know because I checked... And I've never noticed like felt or heard anything but it's all scraped and dented under there now lol.

Hmm I'll put a picture up I mean now I've noticed it it is actually stupid lol you can see it hanging down from the front if you look front on just standing up.

Oh and how was it with just springs? Was it very bouncy or did just lowering with Springs and not new shocks still get rid of body roll? I'm not sure weather to lower with front springs and standard shocks or not =/

Just to add mine is a SuperSprint but I doubt the dimensions would be radically different.

Anyway, just to add, get shocks too, it makes a big difference. If you are going to do something, do it properly.

Yeh my thoughts exactly about the lowering but I donno what to do about this Manifold lol my front wheels won't touch the floor I'll have to measure the gap but it doesn't look like much more than 25-30mm gap from it to the floor =/

On standard height? Something sounds very wrong to me.

Hmm Ignore me being a twit with the 20mm from the floor lol I'm a Welder I should know better. It's actually 78mm from the floor.

Is this normal height? I'm just thinking if it hits speed bumps as it is I might have problems lowering it. I only wanted to go 40mm so it'll be 38mm from the floor lol.

Possibly due to it being a 1.1 engine it may sit incorrectly in the bay. It does look low mind

I was thinking that it maybe because it's meant for the VTR, although I didn't know 1.1 Engine's were that different on the outside
