Guys you've all seen me car i expect, it's debadged and so was thinking, should i de wiper it? Coz im in two minds about it
De-wiper or not?
-
#1
-
#2Yes.
.. -
#3Yes. done mine not long ago looks alot better tbh.
-
#4do it.
-
#5get it done mate, i did mine recently and looks loads better
-
#6Do it!
-
#7do it looks mint
-
#8once you do it, you'll realise you never needed a back wiper on the first plce.
-
#10Yep deffo dewiper, looks much smoother
-
#11For sure... so glad mines de-wipered.
-
#12Hoping onto this thread. I read the post about how to do it, but I've also heard the horror stories about smashing the glass?
Is it just a case of being really careful? -
#13Most people hack saw it off, due to it being seized. give it a few gentle tugs if it doesn't come off, either hack saw it or use a special tool, not sure what it's called, but Willsy used it on mine, so if ever i need the wiper i can just plug it all back in. Be gentle what-ever method used.
-
#14Do it!
-
#15de-wiper, then wax back window, water will run off it
-
#16you can use a ball joint separator to get it off, if its seized. but it should just pop straight off.
-
#17do it
hack sawed mine off and never looked backk
-
#18Do it, just remove it properly incase you change your mind.
Which you wont.. just best to be safe. -
#19So i can put it back on when i come to sell it
, im thinking im gonna do this when i get the chance
-
#20defo do it.
-
#21Get the saw out!
-
#22i dewipered my 2nd boot today,
Proper easy job, so easy to do, i even fixed up the wiper back to the motor, and all parts just so i know how it fits together if i wanted it back on -
#23Is the rubber gromet also in the boot of a mk1? lol coz all ive even seen is mk2s
-
#24How does the rear wiper come off on a mk1 boot. There's no lil cover to lift off?
-
#25there is a cover mate, unclips when you pull it from the base, well it does on a MK1 VTR. Was a bitch to get undone because mine had seized up but with a few harsh tugs it came off lol well worth doing though geez.1 user thanked this post:
-
#26Fucking love you mate!, Its stiff as fuck tho. Sprayed some WD40 on it now
-
#28Fucking hard mate!! Ive managed to loosen it so that i can spin the blade round but it wont come off
EDIT - Done it -
#29Yes yes yes
-
#30Yes. Go for it, i have done mine and i like it! Its personal choice tho
-
#31take at fucker off
-
#32Read my last post. I done it lol
-
#33yeah deffo get it done
-
#34I have a MK2 and trying to do it, cant seem to fine the nut to undo?
Can anyone enlighten me please? -
#35Lossen the motor and hacksaw it off on the outsde.
-
#36how easily does the water disappear in rain, with no wiper ?
-
#37It hammered it down earlier i went to my car was fine
-
#38Dont need 2 look out the bck window anyway
-
#39Tidies the arse end up no end imo. Looks alot cleaner and smoother
-
#40Thats what mirrors are for, anyone enlighten me as to what bung to use?
-
#41Plus there is a ring of dirt that wont come off from where it was sat against the glass, did anyone manage to get theirs off and how please?
-
#43Take the boot carpet up and there should b 1 bunged in the bodywork. Bout 2 inces across or so..
-
#44I am trying to find it, will have a look after i leave camp!
Did yours leave a dirty ring that wont come off? -
#45Yeah it did m8 but 2 b fair havnt got round 2 tryin 2 clean it off yet.
-
#46did mine yesterday! muuuuuuuuuuuuuuch cleaner! just sawed it off! simples!
-
#47Lol, i want it off now!
Its horrible the ring! lol -
#48i got a 19mm bung from B&Q and chopped the wiper off, took the motor off. sorted.
-
#50I wud mayb try nail varnish remover cus it takes permanant marker and glue of things. But dont trust me on that cus ive never used it on glass lol.
-
#52dewiper and use your wingmirrors when misted up lol
-
#53Just Got My Vtr The Other Night.. And I Want To De-Wiper It.. I Know U Take Out The Wiper And Motor.. But Does This Not Leave A Hole In The End Up.. Or How Can U Fill It In??
-
#55You can buy a proper bolt in part to fit the hole, some poverty spec 106's had them fitted.
I've got one on my vts.
-
#56is the bung in the boot not there for some other wierd and wonderfull reason though??
am i the only one that uses a rear wiper lol1 user thanked this post: -
#57de-wiper ftw
-
#58wats the bung in the boot ment ot be for??
-
#59Depends if you want it or not lol. I de-wipered mine but then decided I wanted it for the winter lol. But I'll take it off again in the summer
-
#60De-wipering looks a lot better imo
Wish i had done it to my saxo
-
#61defo worth doing looks alot tidyer
-
#62i tryed to de wiper it didnt go well to say the least i need a new back window
-
#65yeah proper pixxed me off cnt afford a new one so was thinking a sheet of perspecs plastic shit or cove it over with an alloy sheet and spray it black wat ya rekon lol ??
-
#67yeah or just completely black the sides out too ????
-
#69i was thinking just to get a sheet of aluminium plate cut it all to shape smooth all the edges and glue it in just like a window would have ben then either spray it balck or polish it to a chrome finish cause i have loads of alloy sheet and spray gun plus heated garge ????
-
#72WATS THE BUNG IN THE BOOT MENT TO BE FOR????
(being ignored
)
-
#74I always do myne on most cars i own, simple reason if one of the days i feel like being a moron and turn my stereo up the wipers viabrate like fuck. My mates wiper cracked his window
-
#75people were saying u could use a bung thats in the boot floor to plug the hole.
wats it realy there for?? -
#77o fair play, ill do that then, silly question now, were is this bung as i have a false floor and i cba to rip it up so ill reach underit if its somewere simpel
-
#79wax FTW use motorsport specialist wax though
works alot better - personal experience, ive waxed all windows except front , and was thinking about it the other day, but better not until I get my mates sunstrip
-
#80De Wiper FTW, just dont smash your rear window

as i found out on my 1st saxo, auto glass wanted £170 for another rear window had to buy a hole new boot ahah -
#81+1 to dewiper, I use rain-x and it just runs off, the dewiper looks much better imo,
-
#82never managed to smash mine. it was even easier to get off than my wheel nutsQuote:De Wiper FTW, just dont smash your rear window

as i found out on my 1st saxo, auto glass wanted £170 for another rear window had to buy a hole new boot ahah
so, we can determine that saxo rear windows break randomly for no reason
-
#83yeah they smash lol suks literaly
-
#84Get it done
-
#85any ideas for getting them off??? i dont wanna cut it cus i might wanna put it back on, but it seems to be solid, ive soaked it in that magic WD but it just wont budge. wats the best thing to use to remove it other then a puller
-
#86Just keep pulling. I thought mine was solid, well it was, but keep at it and itll come off. Just push back against the rear windscreen so you dont smash it buy pulling too hard.
-
#87i tried but the window was flexing a lot
-
#89i want to keep it cus i dunno how ill cope
-
#90definatly do it, looks so much better
-
#91definately mate i reckon it looks awesome
-
#92Done mine the other day and did it to my old vtr too i dont miss the wiper at all
Had to cut it off and i reckon its cheaper to buy new motor than window -
#93Just done my spare tailgate that i`m repairing took the washer jet out too & put a grommet in the hole, looks much better.
Steve. -
#94this is true, i supose a new motor would only be a few quid on ebay wouildnt it,
-
#95Do it!!! I done mine earlier no dramas. Just sprayed bit of wd40 on e and came off a dream. 19mm rubber grommet to fill gap, used silicone selent to make sure water tight seal.
-
#96still wont budge tried everything, blazing stero to vibrate it off, left it running for 5 minutes to work loose, been up ans down motorway with it going lol, yanked at it pulled at it twisted it,
might have to just cut it -
#97do it
-
#98steve how did you remove the washer jet itself i had a look at it the other day do u just need to rag it apart as its just and elbow goining into the jet? and did you bung the hose up with anything or just leave it?Quote:Just done my spare tailgate that i`m repairing took the washer jet out too & put a grommet in the hole, looks much better.
Steve.
also if any1's interested ive got 2 spare grommets so pm me if you want 1 can get more aswell.
cheers Dan -
#99You have to pull the washer pipe off the plastic elbow, then push the actual jet part back into the hole. That way you don`t damage the paint trying to pry the jet off.The actual pipe I have not sorted yet because i`m swapping over tailgates but what I will probs do is either get a self tapper or small bolt silicone sealant on the thread & scew it into the pipe.Quote:steve how did you remove the washer jet itself i had a look at it the other day do u just need to rag it apart as its just and elbow goining into the jet? and did you bung the hose up with anything or just leave it?

-
#102mite aswell
-
#103tried 2 de-wiper mine 2Day ( Mk2 Wiper ) lol, didnt work, took off the 13ml bolt on arm and the wiper wouldnt come off
anyone no why this is? or did it just happen to me? :/
-
#104Because they always get jammed on.
Just cut the fucker off with a hacksaw
-
#105+1 they seize up all the time
-
#106Yea, tried using alot of wd-40 and tried going around the thread with a wire brush to free it, and still didnt work, thanks anyway (:
-
#107Definatly dewiper
-
#108did mine yesterday, looks amazing.
-
#109Do it now
