#2Cant run it on standard ECU, especially with cams.
Its lumpy enough with just cams. -
#3You can run them on standard ecu with a remap.
I'd do exhaust, cams, then tb's + remap.
No point getting a remap before you fit the tbs else you'd just have to get it remapped again. I would go standalone if it was me though.
Out of interest, are you serious about getting them? or have you just heard the pornographic tb roar and now in dreamland? What is your budget?
I'd recommend doing a search and reading about them, different trumpet lengths, different management, different cams to go with them, wether you want to upgrade internals etc. Its not as simple as buying a set of throttlebodies, plugging them in and putting your foot down.
Raunchz did a very very good detailed thread about them, try find it and have a read. Really useful information in there.1 user thanked this post: -

#5Ive got exhasut system already, i was thinking of newman ph3s rally cams? then tb it then map it, my budget £1500-2000 i just need to know whats needed to do it, wheres a good place you can buy them, do they bolt straight on etc
-
#6With a budget like that, id get a vts engine in there and go from there.
£1000 into a vts engine, is going to get your further than £1500 into an 'r engine.

#7I wouldn't bother with the 8v engine. Do a VTS 16v conversion, get exhaust system, including a decent manifold aswell. Then look into the cams, ph3's / 708s.Quote:Ive got exhasut system already, i was thinking of newman ph3s rally cams? then tb it then map it, my budget £1500-2000 i just need to know whats needed to do it, wheres a good place you can buy them, do they bolt straight on etc
'Do they bolt straight on?' You can get two types, direct to head fitments (well they claim to be), or you can get set ups the require a inlet manifold.
Tbh £1500-2000 wont get you a good tb'ed set up, i'd go for a VTS engine conversion and cam it + breathing mods + remap. Done properly that should be within your budget. -
#8You can pick up TB'ed VTS's with alot of money spent on them for around the 3k to 4k mark, might be worth selling your VTR and putting that money ontop of your budget and buying someones saxo thats already set up.
Yates was selling his, stunning example of a twotone, might be worth dropping him a pm.

#9i want to stick with the vtr engine, i think you can get a set of tbs & bits for £1500-2000, it's okay fitting it etc just need some places to get the throttle boddies what fit & parts, cheers
-
#10Yes you can easily get a set up for that price. Hell you can pick up a second hand setup for £700.00 these days.
If you're fitting them on their own it makes me wonder.. Why do you want tb's?
Some places that sell throttle bodies
Kamracing.co.uk - Jenveys
Atpower (usually on ebay) - Atpower D-T-H Bodies
Or you could look for some carbs on ebay and get the fitted with a manifold off a chap named Sandy, or BoggBrothers if they're still about. -
#11Okay cool, i want some for more power, they sound nice want a bit of a project for next year santa pod. I, pbv going to have ot camed forst and boddies then remap. Whats the best bodies tp get? What bits do i need to do this?
-
#12ATPower bodies are dth
He's got an 8v though so limited with what he can fit -
#13What do you mean raunchz?
-
#14ATPower are I cnc Intake designers
Atspeed are build engines, and map cars on their dyno.
You're best off with a Jenvey dcoe setup with a Colin satchel inlet.
Get dta and sandy brown to map it up
Job done - don't expect any change from £2k, could be more -
#15Get the Sandy Brown/Colin Satchell GSXR throttle body kit I have them (not fitted yet) for my 8V and the quality is immense check out my progress thread for pictures...
-
#16You'd be a fool not to go for 16v if its power you're after. Its 30bhp more right from the start.
You'll spend 2k on your VTR and you'll have simular power to a standard VTS (which you could of got for £350).

You'll struggle fitting Vts tbs to an 8v
Take your car to pug1off and tell them you want it tb'd, leave it with them for a week or so and Job done.
If you don't really have an idea it's not something you should attempt -
#19but surley theres away of fitting these throttle bodys to a 8v with modding it?
-
#20There is but it's not ideal if you're using 16v car throttle bodies as the starting point. Especially with a mk1 vtr which I'm guessing your car is by your avatar picture.
-
#21yeh i supose, yeh that is my car mk1 vtr, so do they do tb for the 8vs i guess not
-
#22who is this sandy brown guy? need to talk to him about this??
