gota think, how far where you into the red when you filled up?

the best thing to do is fill a tank up, then you know youve got 45 litres in, the red light comes on at about 7 litres left so when it comes on you know youve used about 8.5 gallons and can work out your MPG

im getting 50mpg in my 1.4 westy. all stainless including manifold.
i bought myself one of those ecotek valves and i noticied a small diifference, used to get 43mpg, installed that and get 50mpg. well worth the 20quid i paid.

Definitely something wrong there. I just bought a VTR and have found it to be pretty good with regards to fuel economy. Better than my last Car anyway which was a 1.6 Escort. That thing guzzled petrol like nothing else. I've been pleasantly surprised with the Saxo.

Hope you get it fixed m8.

Didn't know it could be worked out that way. Filled my tank up last week, took about 41 quid. Did just over 360 miles before the light came on. I make that around 42.3 mpg. Not too bad. Most of that was motorway miles mind you.
