12v supply

Hi, I have 1 or 2 things that need wiring to a 12v supply. Something that only gives power when the engine is on would be best. I know there is one behind the cd player but I have already used that. Thanks

Best one to use for this senario mte is the ignition live in the steering collum. It attatched to the immobaliser system so it wont come on until you put a key in or start the car. Thats what people hook their alarm too. the ignition live is dead easy to find look at the pic below or otherwise its the thick beige cable. Tap onto that and test try with your key

^^^ ignore the writing above found this pic off the net. On yours you will see the two thick red cables with a brown connector on it the two beige cables attatched to it are your ignotion live just tap the cables there. Or to be double safe use a voltage light probe or multimeter, put it on the inside of the connector and put your keys in and turn once, it it jumps to 12v or the light goes on its your ignition live. If you start the car the volts jump back to 0/ light goes off but the second the car starts it goes back to full power. Then when you turn the car off and take keys out power goes off completely. I decided to do this for my electric windows so that the power would run down with the windows being on a standby, youll see what i mean on the guide i made for fitting electric windows at the styling and interior section and under FAQ stickies
