Another lowering problem!!

  1. #1
    Hi all

I wonder if someone could give me some advise......I recently lowered my saxo via the torsion bar, doing this I had to remove the axle completly so i could remove the torsion bars.

When refitting I measured the same height on exactly the same points on either side, however the drivers side once rebuilt sits slightly lower.

My question is do both side actually sit level when wheels are off the ground then level up when load is applied or does it sit not level when off the ground then level up when load is appied or is it a technical feature when having a big bird in passanger back seat lol

The torsion bar is in top condition, shockers good 2

    Any help would be great

both sides should measure the same when car is off ground.

youve went too far on 1 side by he sounds of things.............. i know theyre sometimes a cunt but why remove?

mines like this only because the beam is fucked. ive got a new one waiting to be fitted!

well....I actually bought a vtr axle that was already lowered, turns out it was fucked after i had fitted it, so whilst other was off i removed the torsion bars to make it a little easier

Looks like axle will have to come off again, possibly a tooth out???

yeah mate sounds like ya slighty out on the measurement on one side a spline out may be

There should be absolutely no need to remove the whole beam/axle to lower your car.

yes i know this..... however I have managed to round of the T40 bolt heads lol

removal of axle will make it easier to remove these then replace..then a matter of trial and error me thinks

shouldnt be a case of trial and error. standard height from hub lip to arch is 400mm, so just subtract from that how much you want to lower.

Would measure the height from hub to arch on both sides first just to confrim they are not the same.

If they are, a fucked shock absorber would alter the height slightly.

Do what i did and get some M8 Hex head bolts to replace those peice of shit Torx bolts.

so you lowered it by splines then? probably why its not level mate lol correct way is to remove the bars completely and adjust the trailing arm
