Saxo 1.5D - Untypical problem, engine stops

    Hi to all,

first sorry for my english. I hope that somebody can help me to solve one untypical problem with my car.

Car cold start is excellent, but the problem occurs while driving. When I drive in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear, over the 3000-3500rpm, "overcharged", climbin some small hill or similar, very often happens when I press clutch pedal - engine stops. If I return him to gear, it continues to work, but if I stop, and try to start him by key, it takes a lot of time, 2-3 min. , it looks like it will start any moment, but not. Sometimes I feel that he s loosing strenght, but sometimes not.

Also, generaly (not always), engine starts harder after driving, when its hot, than in the morning.

Fuel filter changed, "reservoir filter" cleaned... What do you thing, in which direction should I go to solve this problem?

Could be a hairline crack in the filter housing, God knows how you could check it though.......

    Thanx guys,

thenice, if I understood, you are talking about fuel filter?

I spoked with a friend, he told me that I can check fuel filter (if problem is somewhere there) by mounting filter for Golf II istead of original?

injection pump sounds like its on its way to me

But, in 2nd gear it can goes up to 5000rpm with no problem... Some people told me that, if engine starts hard when hot, the problem could be the pump...

Yes, the fuel filter housing. It used to be a fairly common problem on the older Peugeot diesels and, as you know, the Saxo has the Pug engine, so it's a possibility. Good luck!
