   does anyone know what plugs need cutting and changing on the loome to get a 1997 106 gti engine into a 1998 vtr ?? very stuck and need her running

   I assume you've got a GTI loom?
   
   or do you have a VTS loom?
   
   You'll want a VTS loom to make life easier. Then switch the sensors to suit the VTS plugs.
   
   I happen to have a VTS loom here..... And am also in need of a GTI loom

   im not sure what loom it is coz people said a vts loome should just go straight in what plug is on your vts loome for the ecu single or tripple

   two big circle ones but if we swap will need 2 b the same year coz the ecu changes on the facelift models

   How many plugs do you have to go to the car loom?
   1 or 2?

    one black one grey i assume, in that case yes its a gti loom, and i'd imagine it would be single plug ecu.
