Important! : Help lights just cut out

   i have a peugeot 106 diesel
   
   
   was driving along the road and my headlights just cut out instantly on me
   
   my brake lights and reverse light still come on
   
   dont think its the altinator as when fans are flat out and radio is on nothing seems to dim at all
   
   could it be my stalk (turn lights on with) but the lights were on then boom pitch black car still starts and runs fine
   
   any suggestions
