1400 to a 1.6 8v VTR Single Plug - Easy Options?

    Right.

Thought there mite be easier (cheaper) ways round this than fitting a VTR conversion.

    1) Could I remove the 1.4 (single plug) engine, unplugging all the sensors etc then bolt in the VTR lump and just use the existing loom plugged into the VTR sensors/electrics? (obvs the ecu/immob will need changing/unlocking)

    2) Will a VTR silvertop 90bhp head fit on a black top 1400? Reason I ask it I've got the head off my old VTR in the garage going spare. The valves are slightly bigger and the valves have a bit more lift on the VTR. Or could I put the VTR cam in the 1400?

    3) And finally, would a VTR crank/bottom end fit on a 1400 using the normal pistons? Are the big end sizes the same across the TU range? This would increase the stroke a bit as iirc the VTR has slightly bigger stroke and bore. This is also because I have a VTR crank and spare set of big end shells in the garage

Any pointers/info would be apprciated. I normally stick to chassis stuff so engines aren't my forte

TBH it would be easier to fit a vtr conversion than do the 2 and 3.
i dont know if 1) will work but that is the easyist mate

or go the full hog and do a vts conversion

The reason I ask is because I have all them bits in the garage so it'd be free to fit and its a piss easy to do as i won't need to borrow an engine crane.

And I've had too many VTS's... It's a good engine but wouldn't mind the more drivable mid range of the 8v plus, 8v is £100, 16v is £300...
