4 pots.. 406 brembos or wilwood, hi spec

   okay so will be looking at getting some bigger 4 pots after my holiday and want to know which ones i should be looking at tbh ?
   
   are the hi-specs and wilwoods better then the 406 brembos ?
   
   bit of a silly question but couldnt find anything when had a search.

   why you getting such powerfull brakes? is your car boosted? I would say all of the above are overkill on a furio.

   well i planning to sort the brakes and suspension prior to going turbo...
   
   altho i may choose vts conversion if a decent engine pops up at the time...

   i wouldnt bother with 4 pots, turbing a furio still wont need 4 pots, as you will prob get 150bhp get a set of 266 or 283 will be more than enough

   i would be hoping to use it around track occasionally and hear that they warp their discs under hard driving mate? a load of bull?

   ive done a track session only 15mins and my brakes where fine. depends how you brake. I think the track day kit of kam would be plently mate.

   i loved my wilwood 4pots. Cheap for what they are, hi specs have a better braking feel imo but are slightly more expensive.
   
   If not tracking the car they are pointless. But if you are they are awesome imo
   
   The brembos to me are too much of a fuck on with having to run spacers and shit. Unless you source the parts cheap.
   
   iirc my 4pots were £480ish new with discs pads etc.

   4pots look porn aswell however if your car is going to be more road use than track day (ie the odd track time here and there) larger brakes ie 266 or 283 are more than enough mate

    Yeah i have found them for around £480 too. would want to track it to be honest possibly even head to the ring at some point as it looks like you have done...

    Haha yeah moxy the 4 pots do look shit hot tbh.
    may get a pair second hand 266mm see how get on can always get pretty much all my money back so not really a gamble...

    On track you can brake a lot harder and later if your a decent enough driver over 266 and 283mm set ups.
    
    Mine definately helped over at the ring, i ran mine with yellowstuff r pads. Seemed spot on

    fit behind VTS wheels without spacers to.

    The hi-spec 4pot kit someone was making and selling on 106rr seemed really good as you could run the brakes under 14" wheels and because it was a common caliper (used in westfeilds etc) pads were really cheap. I think the whole kit including pads etc was around £450

    One problem I have with the bigger factory brake set ups is the weight. The calipers are substantially heavier than the normal calipers.
    
    The hi-spec would be my personal choicce because the machining is spot on and they're very light. If you've driven a car hard with good brakes then you know that 283mm, although good, isn't the best.
    
    Oh, and fit some AP DOT5.1 fluid too... DOT4 boils easily

    Not really, most racing fluids are DOT4 as dot5.1 standard has viscosity requirements that go against making the higher boilding point fluids.
    RBF600 is decent without breaking the bank.

    The brembos on 406 are very good quality and are intended from the ground up to be a fit and forget road brake. They are also very easy to find brake pads for and the disc rotor that you would use with them is an off the shelf item. All in all it makes for a really powerful, cheap and reliable setup. I would defiantly recommend them.
    
    With all the brake calipes you mentioned they tend to be alloy and very light weight as well to boot. You can go further but you start spending silly money and only get minimal gains. I had a set of AP with alloy belled rotors and they are a great brake super light and powerful but can you justify spending more on one caliper as you could get the hole 406 setup for?
    
    If you do go for the wilwoods or hi-spec be positive there the dust sealed versions if its for a road or track day car unless your happy to be stripping them down every few months. I have seen a few fools by race caliprs only to have them lock on because they did not look after them.

    thanks you just made the brembos tempting, is it a pain the ass to source all the bits needed or is that just rubbish?
    Because always see some brembos around £300 calipers. Would be for road use with occasional track use mate.

    Corroded pistons are a thing of the past, now that all non dust sealed calipers sold today have the pistons hard anodised preventing them from corrosion.
    
    I have sold over 20 non dust sealed calipers and had no problems with this, all of them being on road cars.

    i may be selling my calipers if you want them mate.. black Brembo calipers with new discs and pads.. i also have another set of new discs that everyone is using on here, swampys braided brake lines, brand new 23mm master cylinder. £300 for the set up...
    
    only thing i can say is one of the calipers got a bit of brake fluid on it so their is a tiny bit of paint mussing around one of the nipples.
