Fan and coolant

My car is leaking coolant after overheating while parked and the fan stopped working and is oveheating is this the head gasket or the fan just broke? any ideas?

i dont think your headgasket would effect your fan,
if you can actually see the coolant leaking theres a hole somewhere too,
if its just disapearing and not appearing to be leaking then you may have a bigger problem

No i can see the water leaking out but its only started leaking since it overheated and the fan has stopped working the car was perfect now the arse has fell out of it

Where is the water leaking out from? As long as you switched the engine off the second the temperature warning light came on i doubt there will be any damage done to the head gasket as the water starts to boil before the engine block overheats. The head gasket also has nothing at all to do with the fan.

The fan is controlled by a little sensor that (on my car at least) plugs into the rad. When the sensor detects the temperature above a set amount it tells the cooling fan to start up. So if your cooling fan motor works fine, the likely cause for this will be a bad sensor as these are the most common things to go.

As above. And the sensor controls the switch. And this switch just sends an earth into the circuit to complete it and turn the fan on. This is how i made my override for the fan by switching an earth into the circuit. I would find this earth and check it.

Ye but the fan used to spin freely and now its gone very stiff and when it heats up the temp keeps rising and the fan doesn't kick in and when i fill up coolant i think its coming from a pipe as far as i know i've been driving it but only short distances and hasn't overheated how much is a fan roughly cause i'm nearly sure the motor is blown?
