Fan not working :(

Right I have wired in my fan. However it isnt cutting in when the engine gets hot.

Help, suggestions or anything else is appreciated!
Thinking of just wiring it in manually so I can use one of the switches I have.

    Advice on doing that please

    A) What car have you fitted the fan to?
    B) What fan have you fitted?
    C) Have you checked connections/fuses?

All you need to run it on a switch is a 12v to the back of the switch to the 12v on the fan, then a ground from the fan to the shell.

To check the fan work just use a 12v battery and some wire to run the fan, then if its working it rules that out.

Next, check the temp switch is working. Tbh on a VTS (with the bigger rad) the fan shouldn't come on under normal conditions, only if it's sat at idle for prelonged periods in warm weather.

Its a mk2 w reg vts, the vts fan from my old car in a new fan housing.
    Fuses and connections are fine.

I'll check the fan today, need to pop out for some cable to wire in the switch.

It doesnt come on when Im driving the car, but if I get stuck in traffic it gets hot. I also do track days so dont want it to not work.

On a track, the fan shouldn't come on. The air blowing through the fan is alot faster than the fan can 'blow'. Check the thermostat is working. Take it out, put it in a pan and see if it opens. Whilst you're at it, change the coolant. Helps alot when on track

And out of interest, why were you changing the fan?

Thermostat is working, car has been back together a month and it was new, as was new coolant put in.

I crashed my old car, moved the engine over. The fan, rad and housing all smashed on the manifold.
So I got a new housing put my fan in it and refitted it. I had driven it without for a week or so when I first got the car running.
