hi guys, hope someone here can shed some light on a problem that's just started happening.
Was on way home from work yesterday and all of a sudden the stereo went off and indicators and heater stopped working.
Turns out the fuse on that circuit had blown.
Put a new 10amp fuse in, turned on ignition and fuse blew again.
Took stereo out, and there's a 10amp fuse inline with the wiring aswell which had not blown, changed this to a lower 6amp fuse and this has now blown, but indicators and stuff are still working so I'm assuming it's the fuse on the headunit wiring that's blown.
Anyone have any idea what may be causing the fuses to blow or anyone experienced a similar issue.
Headunit was working fine since I fitted it about a month ago

check that there isnt a loose or bare wire on the loom that is catching the cage on the stereo mate

    thanks for the opinions guys.
took headunit out earlier and the fuse hasnt blown but the heatsink on the back of the alpine headunit was really hot so maybe its a fail safe that switches off if it gets too hot.
all standard speakers though for now and was only on for about 20 mins.
the time before it was only on for 2-3 mins

The stereo getting hot shouldn't blow a fuse beacuase it's not drawing anymore amps. It'll just turn off (ost modern stereos have a failsafe).

The heater blower is fuse F2 (25A), the Stereo F4 (10A).

F4 shares a fuse with the map reading lights, lights on warning buzzer, e/w, e/m and indicators.

Seen as all the rest is factory I'd point the fault to be with the stereo wiring. Check that all wires are properly insulated and not coming into contact with any metal parts. If this happens it would of blown the stereo fuse and not the fuse box fuse so it's something 'upstream' of your stereo.

    cheers for that,
makes sense and glad its not the stereo at fault

similar thing happened again twice on my way home from work today, except this time no fuses blew and the stereo came back on after a few mins on its own.
could this be cos i put a 5amp fuse in the stereo fuse and the stereo needs more?
