vtr coolant bleeding

Hi all, i have had a search around and found contradicting results (to myself) to the problem i (my daughter) has. I will try to be brief. Her car, a saxo vtr 1.6. The problem, a red light came on her temp guage tonight, obviously a warning so told her to fetch it home. Okay, does this car have three bleed points as i have seen posted because i have been told they only have one ( i dont know, cant see yet), at the top manifold (please advise). I have seen the posts about using a makeshift header bottle which i will do in the morning. I will add that there was some water in the system from what i could see, it was getting dark, but by the look of it, it needs a good flush out.
i am totally new to this make of car, so be gentle please .
thanks for reading and any replies

Thanks a lot for that link. I will be on the job in the morning starting with an engine flush. I will add that I did try bleeding off the one manifold cap, but knew something wasn't right with no steady flow of water to be seen.

ok just had 1st go at this. fed water in using header tank til water flowed out bleed points with no air escaping. ran engine but as soon as it hit halway on guage, water began shooting out of expansion tank hole, does it need bleeding again, why is water coming out of expansion tank hole? I will check coolant level but i think it will be well down now.

Could it be thermostat, the fan hadn't started when the coolant was escaping from the expansion tank.

I can't edit so will have to add another post. I looked at the filler cap and noticed a home made rubber seal inside so i removed this. I filled the header bottle and let water flow for a bit out of the bleed points. Then i started the engine, let it run for a minute and replaced bleeder caps in sequence and syphoned out the bit of surplus water in the expansion tank to just below max, replaced filler cap.
When i tightened the cap, i think it turned a little bit more than it did with the makeshift seal in it. So maybe it wasn't making the correct pressure seal before when it came out of expansion overflow.
I have ran the car idle for a good half hour, the fan has worked, no loss from expansion and no loss of coolant level. Daughter is taking it out shortly, so fingers crossed .
Thanks to hurican for your input, and sorry it's a bit long winded, i just like to make clear my results. Next job is her clutch pedal, seems real stiff, but that may be another thread .

Daughter had a good run out in the car last night, checked levels this morning and all looks well and she said it seemed fine. At the moment, the system only has water in it. To add anti freeze to the system, is it the same procedure, or do i undo just one of the bleed points to displace the water.

if you got hot air threw heaters and the temperature gauge just stands around 1/2 or just over it fine and to put in anti freeze it the same procedure but i would take off bottom hose totally empty the system and mix the correct mix anti freeze/water
