Tilt & Slide Sunroof Problem

  1. #1
    Hello

Searched the site but can't really find the answer to my problem. My Saxo VTR which has a tilt & slide sunroof is leaking water VERY badly. If i sit in the car and someone poors water on the car i can't see the leak, once i drive away and go round a corner or put the breaks on water pours in from around the light switch, also after it's been raining it's wet in the usual places. ie passenger footwell and around fuse box. Looked in my Haynes manual to see how to take the roof out but all it says is take it to the dealer as it is to complicated a job because of it being a tilt & slide roof! Is it really a huge job?

    Thanks

If you slide the sunroof back as much as possible and clean the drains at each corner it'll be problem solved.

The seal is sitting ok, removed as much of it as i could, clean around the roof and put it back, tomorrow i'll clean the drain holes (if i can see them, couldn't today). Could it be the ariel leaking or would this not let a huge amount of water in?

undo it see if its damp if so put sealant around hole tighten see if that works.

aerial can leak really bad and fill light up, also had a few saxos that have had serious rot in the metal surrounding the sunroof letting water in

Thanks for you're quick replies will try ariel and drains first without getting too drastic and attempting to take roof out, have had a thought a few weeks ago i noticed my ariel mast had been pushed down so i pulled it back up, perhaps this loosened it and broke the seal! Hopefully it will be this, just didn't think so much water could get through it. Will try silicon on it in morning!

    Thanks again
