oil catch tank connections

got a catch tank connected up to the breather pipe as induction didn;t have connection to plug it onto to.
so now pipe comes off breather and to catch tank. but didn;t get a blanking plate for second hole on catch tank.
so is it ok to blank other hole off or do i have to stck a breather filter on it?

you mean pipe off cam cover to catchtank then pipe to filter,

you can put a breather filter on it or leave it open to 'breathe'

somebody correct me if im wrong but if the other was blanked off the engine wouldnt be 'breathing'

Ideally the pipe would be routed back into the dirty side of the airfilter housing with an inline PCV valve so that the crankcase pressure is held at approx. -25mBar. This would see a slight increase in performance and keep the car legal.

A further development could be to change the catch tank for a cyclonic separator with a drain back to the sump. This would mean the catch tank will never need draining and no loss of oil seen.

yes mate you could out a little bit of pipe on the second fitting but you dont have to, you could just leave it as the oil if any is caught in the tank and the vapours released out the open hole

The only problem with leaving it open, is that it could cause a bit of mess under the bonnet.

Lead a pipe off it and go south
