Weird jolting at around 2k rpm? *Fixed*

  1. #1
    Hi all,

My 2002 VTR has started running strangely. I've noticed when i'm doing about 2k rpm in 4th or 5th gear when about 45/50mph the car seems to be struggling and running really lumpy.

I think its gradually getting worse and i think and seems to happen when i'm not accelerating hard just plodding along. It drives fine at higher speeds and idles fine too.

Any body know what it might be? Service is due in about 4k...

    Cheers

I'd check plugs, maybe change them for a new set.
    Also check air filter.

Errr can't think of anything else although I'd service my car now if it was me, 4k is a long time to have this happening for, an oil change will help your engine run smoother with clean and smooth oil. Don't forget gearbox oil too, a lot of people forget this.

I might check the spark plugs actually maybe try wire brushing them. It was serviced a little while ago cant remember exactly how long ago though. I'd normally start changing everything to try and fix it but this time i cant be bothered to fork out on it as i'd like to get a new car soon really...If the plugs are shagged i might get it serviced i spose

Yeh I've had this once or twice when going a long slow roads, but I clean my plugs and I suppose you could say I do a mini service every 2-3 weeks.

I think with clean plugs you'll see a difference

Lol, well I hoover and clean all inside and wash the outside every weekend.

Then every 2-3 weeks I clean the plugs and just check everything, tires, wheel nuts, lights nuts and bolts. I don't oil change and stuff that often though lol I do that once a year, or every 10,000 miles when my little spanner shows up lol.

I really just do it all because I enjoy it to be honest lol
