is this basicly all a oil catch tank does go from the air feed for the engine on the rocker cover go to the catch tank, and then the other side goes to your induction kit

Yes thats the simplest way to mount one. SOme people run a feed back to the sump so that you dont need to empty the tank.
But the way your diagram is will be fine.

You can also put a small filter end of the hose that goes to the induction kit, but then you close the hole on induction kit....

which is rubbish as you just end up releasing fumes under hard driving that make their way into the cabin and stink to fuck

I've been on many cars as I had described but did not feel anything in cockpit.
Happens as you described if you leave the pipe free....
