head skim with ph4's

  1. #1
Im wanting to get my vts head skimmed before rebuilding it all back up with high comps and ph4's.
main reason for wanting it skimmed is just for piece of mind that the surface is flat, would want to use std size citroen h/g.
how much could i get skimmed off without running the risk of piston/valve clash?

    thanks

dry build the engine with no gasket -with lump of clay (playdoh) on top of piston --then turn over by hand and you will see how clearance you have

Just get the head pressure tested etc to make sure it is flat instead of just straight up skimming

how will that tell him how much piston valve clearance he has --maybe the head has already been skimmed before?
once you know how much you have then you can skim to get best comp ratio possible--you will nt get it too high

Yer like john said, but if the head was ok before a lite skim should be ok, should do a dry build first though.
