Hi, i fitted a shaft to my Saxo VTR yesterday but the only shaft i could get was a ABS one. Whats the difference between the two? is it just the ABS Ring?
    Cheers

    possibly --
there have been 2 diffferent types of shaft --different taper where it meets the hub bearing if they are the same --no problemo

It's just the ABS ring that differs between an ABS and a non-ABS driveshaft... Having the ring on a non ABS'd car is not a problem. As axsaxoman said though, there are different tapers, which you need to be careful of. There are also different thread lengths so you need to make sure you have the correct hub nut for the length of thread - Sometimes a hub nut is provided with the driveshaft.

    As above.

Flat seated driveshafts are from the earlier models and have the shorter thread and smaller draveshaft nut.

Tapered driveshafts are from later models and have the longer thread and longer driveshaft nut.

You can use an abs driveshaft on a non abs car but not the other way round. Whatever the situation you need to make sure you get the right type (flat seated or tapered)
